Here we try and provide information to help you with transportation during your holiday. So there's information on car hire, buses, taxis and private hire companies.
BUS SERVICE; for details on buses around the island and timetables - Ibiza Buses - http://www.ibizabus.com/ There is also a useful app for your phone called Ibiza Buses.
Tip: if catching buses in the village the times given on the timetables are from the start point, however from both San Antonio and Ibiza Town it roughly takes 15 minutes to get to the village. The airport bus takes about 10 minutes.
CAR HIRE COMPANIES; As prices can very much depend on age and length of hire we can't recommend on price. Service, especially in high season (School holidays) can be quite poor at some companies. If using the comparison sites make sure you know which car hire company you are using.
If you're arriving late at night, some don't have out of hours arrangements (!) we always recommend to get a taxi to the villa and get the car the next day. The airport bus runs through the village and is cheap and regular. Alternatively I can always take you to the hire company if you let me know.
Tip - Ones to avoid: Choice car hire, OK car hire, Gold Car car hire, K10 car hire plus beware of 'doyouspain' comparison site (who use these poor ones) and any 'new' ones that have sprung up as some do change their name!!
Recommendations to use: any of the large companies like Hertz, Eurocar, Sixt, Avis, Enterprise etc. and also the family owned companies who usually give good service like
Autos Mari - http://www.autosmari.com/ibiza/en/cars-hire.html
Moto Luis - http://www.motoluis.co.uk/ibiza/cars-hire-en.html
TOP TIP: at busy periods (Late June to Early Sept) get to the desk first by leaving someone else to grab the suitcases from the carousel. Queues can be long at Times!
INSURANCE; many hire companies suggest taking out excess damage polices that cover you for all costs. However you may find the companies that specialise in this a better option. You can get single rates or annual rates. Here's a selection:
http://www.carhire-excess-insurance.com/ and also check out Holiday Auto's website as they offer this type of policy too.
AIRPORT TRANSFER (and private hire);
Gran Turismo - http://www.ibizagranturismo.com/en#&panel1-5
Ibuss - http://www.airporttransfersibiza.com
Sun Transfers - http://www.suntransfers.com/ibiza-airport
Ibizahire - http://www.ibizahire.com/
PLEASE NOTE: these will be much more expensive than a taxi as they have to pay for a special license from the airport in order to collect passengers form there. Taxis are just outside the door and it is a quick journey to the villa (10 mins). Taxis take up to 4 people (including toddlers). Taxis don't always have child seats so if you're concerned about that please try the private hire companies as they may provide them.
General Taxi Information:
Taxi price from airport is approximately 20 euros.
Taxi price to San Antonio is approximately 17/18 euros
Taxi price to Ibiza Town is approximately 25 euros.
PLEASE NOTE - prices differ day and evening. Also it is extra if called out rather than flagged down. Taxis seat 4 people so if 5 + in your group it will be 2 taxis.
****Taxis CAN'T be ordered in advance in Spain. You have to call and wait for an available one to be sent. Please be aware that frustratingly this can take some time so best to stay in the villa than stand in the street***
Sometimes it is better to stand at a main road and flag one down.
If dining in a restaurant they will always call a taxi for you when you're ready to leave.
These are companies that you can book ahead and will collect and drop you off anywhere. They operate minibuses and so can be useful for larger groups who would have to use 2 taxis. They can be more useful than taxis as they will come at a pre-agreed time and you can all travel together.
All the above airport transport companies offer this service and also
Ibiza Transit Express - +34 627252975 http://www.ibizatransitexpress.com/
Infinity Luxury Car Service - +34 657402721 http://www.infinityluxurycarservice.com/ibiza_en/
BOAT TRIPS; are plentiful from the harbour in San Antonio. You can easily get there by bus. There are also private companies offering boat charters; all day, mornings, afternoons including sunset and particular journeys you may request (like Es Palmador).
Companies come and go so it is difficult to offer recommendations...Ibiza Spotlight lists companies, google for ibiza boat charters or ask me (I may have details of some who I've seen advertising)
Often boat companies will offer hires with food and drink and without (supply your own). It is common to quote a price and then add on the cost of fuel you use. So please make sure you have a full break down of what is included.
